The Kendriya Vidyalaya NTPC No.2 Korba was founded on 03/08/1979 in the premises of National Thermal Power Corporation Plant in Jamnipali locality of Korba in Chhattisgarh state of India. The First Chairman of the Vidyalaya was Shri K.C. Jain, General Manager NTPC Korba and the founder Principal was Shri V. N. Gupta. The Vidyalaya was up to VIII from its inception in 1979. First batch of class X appeared in 1983.Later in the year 1986 the Vidyalaya was extended up to senior secondary science stream in 1986 and first batch for AISSCE appeared in 1987. The Commerce stream of class XI has been included in the year 2007. Recently the humanities stream is also a part since 2012. Since then, the school is flourishing and producing good citizens of India.
The Kendriya Vidyalayas have a four - fold mission, viz.,
1. To cater to the educational needs of children of transferable Central Government including Defence and Para-military personnel by providing a common programme of education;
2. To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education;
3. To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Concil of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) etc. and
4. To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of "Indianness" among children.
